I ordered the curry goat dinner by delivery from doordash and let me tell you it was absolutely delicious. It reminded me of the curry goat and rice and peas my Jamaican father used to cook when I was growing up. I asked for extra gravy and they actually put extra gravy on it and the goat was so flavorful tender and juicy. It was my first time trying this restaurant and I will definitely try it again. Coodos to Calabash. You rock!!!

I visited Calabash yesterday and ordered an oxtail bowl. While eating, I discovered a metal top that looked like a beer or soda cap underneath the oxtails, almost like it had been cooked into the food. I immediately called the restaurant and spoke with the owner. He told me it was very “unusual” and asked what I wanted him to do about it. He offered to write my name down for a free large dinner, but honestly I wasn’t comfortable with that after finding a metal object in my food. I drove back to the restaurant to show him exactly what I found and simply requested a full refund. Instead of taking accountability, he became loud and argumentative, insisting they don’t even sell drinks with that type of cap. I explained that I obviously didn’t put it there myself. What made the situation even more concerning was the fact that there was a metal top inside the food and no one seemed concerned about how it got there.This was actually only my second time eating here. My first visit was completely fine, which is why I returned. Unfortunately, the way this situation was handled was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.

Went here with my family ordered oxtails & curry chicken on a Saturday. No other customers were in that day so we were excited to try there food for the first time. But once we tasted it … the food tastes old.. oxtails had no flavor and taste burnt. And chicken was over cooked, we literally through everything away it was such a waste of money. I’m Jamaican and can cook, so this experience food wise was very disappointing. The cook was very nice and the location was clean and homie, I’m hoping it was jus a bad morning.. but Sid’s or taste of the islands would be a better option.

Counter serve low key, very clean and friendly. More inportantly it has the most delicious and authentic flavours I have had since living in a Jamaican community, where the grandmothers cooked. Jerk chicken and curry goat were delicious and extremely generous portions. 100% recommend

I was visiting Tampa and decided to stop by—and let me tell you, I did the happy dance! I ordered the oxtails with peas and rice, and it came with steamed veggies (cabbage and carrots) and sweet plantains. Every single bite was bursting with flavor. The oxtails were tender and seasoned to perfection, the rice had the perfect texture, and they did not skimp on the gravy! The entire plate felt like a warm hug from the islands. When I first walked in, I didn’t expect it to be such a small spot, but it smelled like an island home and truly did not disappoint. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the person at the counter wasn’t very service-oriented—no “hello” or “how can I help you,” and I’m big on friendly service. But honestly, with food that good, they could say nothing and I’d still come back. Total cost about $19 I’ll definitely be returning next time I’m in Tampa!
